This next guest is one of my favorites. She is witty, smart, fierce, beautiful, a woman about her business. And loads of fun. She fashion and pop culture expert, TV personality, radio host, author, and the quintessential Harlem girl, Ms. Bevy Smith.
Bevy joined me on the Build On Beauty podcast not long ago. On the subject of Bevelations, which is the name of her Sirius XM radio show and the name of her new book. Bevelations, Lessons from a Mutha, Auntie, Bestie. Before I share with you what I learned from our conversation. Let me tell you a little […]
Inner fitness, in some regard, is more challenging and rewarding than outer fitness will ever be. Yet, in many ways, it’s very similar. Going for a walk or run and making the right choices with your diet will eventually pay off. Even if it’s only in your blood pressure numbers, A1C readings, or the way you feel in your skin. I realized many years ago that fitness is more than a physique. It’s more than a dress size or an inseam. It’s how you feel, think, choose and move in the world.
A recent guest […]
I’ve come to understand that men play a vital role in the evolution of women. Many women are suffering and hurting simply because a man has not accepted his role in their life.
This is something that most of us have to learn whether young or old. I think so many times we as people try to be superman or superwoman
it works sometimes it’s not an ideal situation, primarily because we are only equipped to handle so much and trying to push the limit on that can lead to disease and all kinds of mental and physical breakdowns. So how are we to handle such situations?………..
I spent many years of my life in fear. Fear of what others may think. Fear of failing
After looking upon the precious time I wasted I realized something and that is that fear can kill you. What do I mean by that? Maybe not so much a physical death but definitely a spiritual one………
This lesson for many sometimes takes a little time to learn but the sooner it is learned the better off one will be. This lesson is a lesson of not just identity but finding comfort in that identity
You see no one in this world is just alike. I don’t care how much people say you look just like your mom or act just like your dad you are still different from them. This is where personality, experiences, education and relationships come into play……….
In the church we often times allow guilt and shame to keep us from the fullness of what God promised us.
But when we feel we don’t have it all together we just stay out of church and say things like I’m not going to be a hypocrite I’m just gonna get myself together and then go back…………
Why is our identity so important? It is the thing that refers to our historical make up and personal continuity.
Our spiritual identity is connected to the success of our Lord Jesus Christ as we move to grow in the grace and knowledge of Him. As a result, we should not operate in our own strength………..
Let me help you understand. Think about a fight you may had in school or in your neighborhood while growing up.
The bully bothered and tormented you, and attempted to start a fight with you—his prey. Whether you wanted to fight him or not, there was something that gave this enemy the power to fight you…………
The sabotage spirit, which comes to put a stop or undermine the work that you are doing, always comes from someone who is in relationship with you and genuinely loves you.
This is why most of the time, the individual who is a potential offender goes out of his or her way to be nice to you, compliment you and want to be around you. Sometimes you won’t even know their potential in this area and quite honestly many of the offenders won’t see their own potential………..
